Fall has arrived. Here are a few things to check off your list to ensure that you home is in tip-top shape.
Leaves are bound to fall, give it some time and then flush your gutters out with water, inspect the joints and tighten the brackets if needed. Do your gutters have built-in leaf guards? If not replace them now. This will help water from collecting on your roof and prevent wood rot and other damage.
2. CHECK FOR PEELING PAINT
Inspect all exterior walls for peeling paint or blistering. Peeling paint is a clear sign that the paint film is no longer protecting the siding. This can lead to deterioration and expensive repairs down the road.
3. REVERSE YOUR CEILING FAN
Change the direction of your ceiling fan to help create an upward draft that helps redistribute warm air from the ceiling. Even though we’re in California, this is heating season, clean your humidifiers. Bacteria builds up in a dirty water tank and results in unclean moisture throughout your room.
4. MULCH IT UP
Show your plants some love with mulch. Keep your flowers, shrubs, and bushes healthy and warm by applying a thin layer of mulch around the base of all your plants.
5. TUNE-UP THAT FURNACE
Schedule an annual furnace tune-up. Your heating system has been on summer vacation. Before you thrust it into action this winter, get an annual tune-up from a trusted professional. Regular maintenance can help prolong the life of your furnace and save you money in the future.
